Markel launches new construction proposition to target customer pain points and drive growth

We’re delighted to launch our new product for the UK construction sector that combines over 30 years of construction PI experience with its highly specialist ECIC capability, delivering a proposition that provides a complete solution to the pain points faced by those in the construction industry.

Markel Construction comes with a dedicated 10-man underwriting team led by our head of construction underwriting - UK, Martin Parker.

Over 30 hours of qualitative interviews with brokers and end clients reinforced our understanding of the sector’s most pressing current needs, and revealed a number of pain points, including:

These include fee for intervention, legionella, defective products, efficacy and offsite storage. As well as offering professional indemnity as part of the insurance package, something brokers really voiced to us as a need in this sector.

To further support customers, Markel Construction will provide unfettered access to in-house legal, tax and HR specialists and a suite of value-added services built exclusively for the construction industry. These will enable our policyholders to run their business more effectively, saving time and money and reducing overall risk.
