Samantha is a Partner and the Head of the Commercial team based in Manchester.
She joined Markel Law in 2025, bringing over 25 years’ experience in the legal profession, including a decade spent working in-house.
During her in-house career, she advised senior management on legal, compliance, regulatory and commercial matters and supported strategy development, implementation and stakeholder management. This background enables Samantha to bridge the gap between technical legal advice and its practical implementation within a business, while keeping her clients’ commercial objectives at the forefront.
As Head of Commercial, Samantha leads the team in providing practical, commercially focused support tailored to each client’s business needs. Her particular areas of expertise include commercial contracts, corporate governance, intellectual property and data protection and privacy.
Her work includes advising on, drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements. She also advises on the protection and commercialisation of intellectual property and helps businesses establish effective contractual and governance frameworks. She supports businesses at different stages of growth, helping them manage legal risk and build strong legal foundations.
Samantha also has significant experience advising businesses and individuals in the media and creative industries. She has acted for members of the Radio Independents Group, film production companies and media personalities.
Samantha takes a solutions-driven approach, working closely with clients to understand their business objectives and deliver clear, practical and commercially focused advice.
