Richard is a specialist cargo, logistics and marine disputes lawyer with more than 18 years' experience advising insurers, logistics operators, freight forwarders, carriers and their insureds on complex domestic and international claims.

He has extensive experience across cargo loss and recovery, logistics liability, freight forwarding and warehouse disputes, marine insurance coverage issues, and Commercial Court and arbitration proceedings. His experience spans multimodal transport losses, stock throughput and storage claims, mis-delivery, theft, contamination, temperature-controlled cargo losses, customs and duty exposures, and complex multi-party litigation involving parties across multiple jurisdictions.

Recent experience highlights include:

• Advising insurers on a substantial temperature-controlled pharmaceutical cargo loss involving multiple parties across an international supply chain, coordinating investigations, analysing contractual liability positions and identifying the most commercially viable recovery targets.
• Acting for insurers and a major freight forwarder in a significant liability dispute arising from NVOCC operations, providing strategic advice on trading conditions, limitation rights, contractual liabilities and multi-jurisdictional defence strategy to achieve a favourable commercial outcome without protracted litigation.
• Leading the response to a major cargo loss following a vessel fire affecting a global vehicle manufacturer, coordinating investigations and International legal advice while developing a recovery strategy that protected both recovery prospects and the evidential position from the outset of the claim.
