Markel Law
Partner and Head of LEI
Aaron is an experienced commercial litigation solicitor who joined Markel Law in May 2023 as a Partner to head up the Legal Expenses Insurance department of the firm’s Civil Litigation team.
Aaron has specialised in Commercial Litigation since qualifying with regional outfit Flint Bishop LLP in 2011, then going on to work at Greenhalgh Kerr Solicitors, Pearson Solicitors and AFG Law. Prior to joining Markel Law, Aaron was a Director at AFG Law, where he was also a Director and Head of their Dispute Resolution Department based in Bolton.
Aaron has acted for a wide range of clients (both claimant and defendant) from multinational corporations and limited companies through to start-ups and individuals on a range of civil and commercial matters involving commercial contract disputes and commercial property disputes (including dilapidations, nuisance and boundary disputes) and landlord and tenant matters (including possession).
Aaron also has extensive experience of acting for investors, commercial and residential landlords, retailers and owner-managed businesses, regularly having advised on breaches of covenant, forfeiture, dilapidations, lease termination, consent issues and rights of way.
Aaron is also responsible for management and supervision of Markel Law’s fixed-fee residential housing possession offering. This involves claims managed from service of notices to litigation if necessary, and then onto bailiff instruction and tracers as required. Aaron has introduced efficiency measures in these products to increase profitability and service levels, as well as bringing a change of approach to litigation strategy in order to maximise costs recovery from tenants.
Aaron has significant experience of resolving disputes not only by litigation, but also utilising alternative dispute resolution methods including mediations, joint settlement meetings and dispute resolution hearings, as well as resolution through commercial compromise (often involving boundary agreements, settlement agreements and HM Land Registry applications).
Aaron is also Markel Law’s Training Principal and is responsible for ensuring the trainees successfully complete a period of recognised training during their time with the firm.
