A fantastic achievement for the Markel UK team at last night’s Insurance Times Awards!

The flagship awards celebrate excellence and innovation and recognise the very best talent across the breadth of the UK general insurance sector, so it was a proud moment to win Insurer Innovation of the Year.
It is difficult to demonstrate true innovation in a mature market such as the UK insurance sector. Nonetheless, Markel UK achieved this for their care-sector customers in 2022.
The innovation focussed on supporting care providers to achieve a positive Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating. This is vital for care providers, as a poor rating can impact the ability to access funding, attract and retain staff and potentially lead to closure.
Markel created a targeted service to help their care clients pass the inspection, helping them navigate the ever-changing regulatory landscape of the CQC.
Our specialist in-house care consultancy, Markel Care Practitioners (MCP), provide an initial risk assessment, and then assign a consultant best qualified to support the provider in implementing the recommended changes. The result from this, is a care provider far more likely to obtain a positive CQC rating.
Markel Care Practitioners form an essential part of the Markel Care proposition. The team is going from strength to strength and this vital service will continue to grow its offering into 2023 and beyond.
