We are pleased to announce the appointment of Lee Mooney as the new managing director for Markel in the UK with effect 23rd June.
A leader with a fantastic reputation with brokers and distribution partners, Mooney will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of the UK business, centred on maximising profitable growth and delivering exceptional client and broker service.
Mooney will oversee a thriving UK business that has achieved consistent year-on-year growth and earned recognition as the number one commercial lines insurer for service by brokers for two consecutive years, as well as being recognised as specialist insurer of the year.
With over 25 years of experience in UK commercial insurance, he is well placed to oversee new opportunities in the mid-market sector and drive the ongoing development of Markel's sector-specialist solutions for the UK SME market.
With well-defined growth plans already in place, Mooney will play a crucial role in advancing Markel’s next phase of growth in the UK. A strategy aimed at transformation growth, focusing on key pillars which include: a broker-led specialist schemes proposition, expanding and launching new sector propositions, developments in eTrade and digital trading, ongoing regional expansion, and empowering its people to make local decisions supported by technology.
