Matt joined Markel Tax in January 2015 after nine years working in academic research and a year spent with the proposal writing team at PERA. Matt’s original qualification was in biochemistry, for which he spent a year working for Lonza’s biotechnology research department in Switzerland. He then gained a PhD in bacterial protein production and export and spent a further nine years researching this area.
Matt has worked mainly on funding proposals for InnovateUK and Horizon2020, also enjoying considerable success applying for SBRI and other lesser known funding sources. He works diligently to keep abreast of all new grant funding opportunities for R&D active companies.
