Sandy Kaur

Sandy is a Solicitor in the Casualty team based in Leeds and joined Markel Law in April 2023.

Having qualified as a Solicitor in 2018, Sandy has 7 years’ experience handling a wide range of personal injury litigation matters for both Defendants and Claimants.

Since 2019, Sandy has specialised in Defendant personal injury civil litigation, representing various national insurer clients in employers and public liability claims, ranging from pre-litigation disputes through to litigated matters taken to trial. Sandy has worked in collaboration with a variety of Insureds and Brokers and understands the importance of establishing positive relationships in order to work effectively and manage expectations.

Sandy drafts her own pleadings and conducts her own advocacy for interim applications and direct hearings. She has also attended coroner inquests, representing the interests of the client and Insured in respect of potential civil claims. 

Whilst having conduct of her own case load, Sandy supports senior fee earners on complex multi-track claims. She also supports junior members of the team by providing them with training and guidance. 

Sandy has a wealth of claims experience for a wide range of sectors including local authorities, hospitality, retail, beauty, leisure services and also the construction industry. Within this spectrum Sandy has been instructed to handle a variety of claims such as pre-action liability advice, pre-action disclosure, manual handling, defective equipment, falls from height, fatal injuries and slips and trips. Sandy has a clear understanding of the reputational issues arising for service sectors and the need to deal with claims appropriately and efficiently.
