Richard joined Markel in 2010 and is a member of the UK Executive team. Day to day Richard is responsible for the people, policy and processes of the UK’s claims function and its portfolios of claims. Richard is also Managing Partner of Markel’s law firm, Markel Law.
Richard is dedicated to ensuring the customer claims journey is the best that it can be with the claims function having the aspiration to be the most customer focused, value adding and nimble claims function in the market.
Richard is a qualified solicitor and holds the ACII designation. Richard sits on the CII’s advisory board for their Society of Claims Professionals as well as the CII’s General Insurance Learning advisory panel.
Richard is married to his wife Clare, and has two boys – Alexander and Thomas.
