Martin is an experienced Solicitor within the dispute resolution team, combining a broad practice with some more focused areas of specialism. Regardless of the dispute type, he provides clear, jargon-free advice with a view to resolving the dispute as quickly as possible. He uses his knowledge gained as a qualified mediator to pursue settlement and obtain the best results for clients.

Residential and Commercial Possession – Martin is regularly instructed by landlords to obtain possession of their residential or commercial property. He currently manages an insurer-backed book of work seeking vacant possession of insured properties where the tenant is in rent arrears.

Martin has experience in section 8, section 21 and HMO claims from initial advice to notices and ultimately enforcement. He is also experienced in obtaining possession in more tricky residential cases, e.g. where the tenant is a fraudster or protected tenancy cases. He works with commercial landlords to obtain possession for unpaid rent and for breaches of the lease. He is often asked to provide advice on the most effective manner of eviction and the best way to reduce risks to the landlord, including forfeiture, Commercial Rent Arrears Recovery and serving break notices.

Mobile Home/Park Homes Disputes – Martin is a specialist legal advisor to one of the largest mobile home and caravan insurers in the country. He specialises in acting for residents of mobile homes and caravans. He advises on all continuous issues relating to mobile home parks, caravan parks and leisure parks, including the interpretation of the Mobile Homes Act 1983 and 2013; changes to the site rules; the impact of Qualifying Residents Associations (QRAs); threats to evict or cut off utilities; the validity of pitch fee reviews; nuisance neighbours; harassment and intimidation; miss-selling of residential/leisure homes.

General litigation – Martin has a broad range of litigation experience in a variety of matters ranging from small claims to High Court disputes, including areas such as residential property: right of ways; trespass; nuisance; boundary disputes; possession proceedings. commercial property: removal of squatters; licence disputes; dilapidations; possession proceedings; lease renewal; reinstatement and refusal to reoccupy.

Contractual disputes – Martin acts on breach of terms; construction and incorporation of terms; misrepresentation; consumer goods act; recruitment contracts; unpaid debts, enforcement and recovery.
